Professional Learning

The need

Many professional learning experiences present information without connecting it to classroom practice. Teachers leave with new knowledge but limited support for applying it in their specific context.

What collaboration can look like

We design and facilitate professional learning experiences for teachers and leaders focused on bilingual education, biliteracy, and Spanish instruction. Our sessions emphasize analysis of instructional examples, pedagogical reflection, modeling, and planning for classroom application — not simply the presentation of information.

Examples of products we might develop together

  • Professional learning sequences on biliteracy and Spanish instruction
  • Workshops on cross-linguistic connections and metalinguistic awareness
  • Leadership learning on bilingual program coherence

Instructional Coaching

The need

Professional learning alone rarely changes practice. Educators need ongoing, collaborative support to translate new understanding into the daily decisions of planning and teaching.

What collaboration can look like

We provide coaching that connects professional learning to practice through collaborative planning, unit and lesson analysis, modeling, observation, feedback, and examination of student work. We describe coaching as collaborative professional growth — not evaluation or compliance monitoring.

Examples of products we might develop together

  • Coaching cycles focused on Spanish literacy instruction
  • Collaborative lesson and unit analysis
  • Examination of student work to inform instructional decisions

Spanish Literacy & Biliteracy

The need

Spanish instruction in U.S. bilingual programs is often shaped by approaches developed for English. This limits students' access to the full richness of Spanish as a language of learning.

What collaboration can look like

We provide specialized support for teaching reading, writing, oral language, and academic language in Spanish — with attention to the language's own characteristics and meaningful connections to English. Areas of specialization include spelling and orthography, grammar in context, metalinguistic awareness, writing revision, and cross-linguistic connections.

Examples of products we might develop together

  • Professional learning on explicit Spanish literacy instruction
  • Support for implementing Dictado Ideal
  • Planning for cross-linguistic connections

Curriculum & Instructional Planning

The need

Curriculum materials and lesson plans don't always align learning goals, tasks, language demands, and instructional supports in ways that help all students participate and make progress.

What collaboration can look like

We support the review and planning of units, lessons, and materials to strengthen alignment among content, language objectives, tasks, assessment, and instructional scaffolds. This is collaborative planning work — not the sale of a proprietary curriculum.

Examples of products we might develop together

  • Unit and lesson review and revision
  • Planning guides for biliteracy instruction
  • Alignment of language objectives, tasks, and supports

Program & Leadership Support

The need

Bilingual programs often face challenges of coherence — across grade levels, between classrooms, and between professional learning and daily practice.

What collaboration can look like

We partner with school and district leaders to identify needs, establish priorities, and strengthen coherence within bilingual programs. Depending on the context, this work may address language allocation, continuity across grade levels, shared instructional practices, and leadership team development.

Examples of products we might develop together

  • Program needs assessment and priority-setting
  • Leadership team development for bilingual program coherence
  • Support for language allocation and cross-grade continuity
